🧛‍♂️ Resident Evil Village – PC Game Review (Played on RTX 3050 + i5 13th Gen)

🔍 Overview

Resident Evil Village, also known as Resident Evil 8, is a first-person survival horror game developed by Capcom. A direct sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the game continues the story of Ethan Winters, this time in a mysterious Eastern European village haunted by werewolves, vampires, and other grotesque bioweapons. Powered by the RE Engine, it mixes tense survival horror with cinematic action and exploration.

🖥️ Performance on My Gaming PC

Specs:

  • GPU: RTX 3050 8GB

  • CPU: Intel i5 13th Gen

  • RAM: 16GB DDR4

  • Storage: SSD

  • Resolution: 1080p

  • Settings Played On: High / Ultra

🎮 FPS & Smoothness:

  • Ultra settings (no ray tracing): 50–60 FPS, smooth in most areas

  • High settings with FidelityFX or DLSS mods: 60–75 FPS at 1080p

  • With ray tracing ON, FPS dips to around 35–45, so better kept off for RTX 3050

  • Fast load times and stable performance throughout

  • Cutscenes and boss fights ran fluidly without stutters

👁️ Graphics & Visuals

  • The RE Engine shines again with realistic textures, stunning lighting, and terrifying environments

  • The gothic castle, snowy village, creepy house of Beneviento, and eerie factory are all beautifully and horrifically crafted

  • Enemies are well-modeled, from lycans to mechanical monstrosities

  • RTX 3050 handles fog, snow, and detailed interiors very well at 1080p

  • Ray tracing is heavy — recommended only on stronger GPUs

🔫 Gameplay & Combat

  • First-person shooting, exploration, crafting, and light puzzle-solving

  • Weapons feel punchy — shotguns, pistols, snipers, and explosives

  • Combat is faster-paced than RE7, with more enemy types and action sequences

  • Inventory management, upgrades, and weapon mods play a big role

  • The Duke (merchant) adds charm and useful upgrades

🧠 Story & Atmosphere

  • A blend of horror and action with excellent pacing

  • You face four Lords, each with their own themed area and gameplay twist:

    • Lady Dimitrescu – gothic vampire horror

    • Donna Beneviento – psychological terror

    • Salvatore Moreau – body horror

    • Heisenberg – sci-fi mechanical mayhem

  • Story is mysterious, full of twists, and connects well with RE7 and older RE lore

  • Voice acting and facial animation are top-notch

🎧 Sound & Music

  • Sound design is chilling — footsteps, growls, doors creaking all add to the dread

  • Music shifts dynamically from tense ambient tracks to loud action cues

  • Excellent voice acting, especially Lady Dimitrescu, Ethan, and the Duke

  • Best played with headphones for full immersion

🧩 Replay Value & Extras

  • Unlockable weapons, challenges, and Mercenaries mode

  • Multiple difficulties and New Game+

  • Secrets and collectibles scattered across the map

  • Average campaign time: 9–12 hours

👍 Pros

  • Runs very well on RTX 3050 + i5 13th Gen at 1080p

  • Incredible visuals and atmosphere

  • Great mix of horror, puzzles, and combat

  • Memorable characters and bosses

  • Satisfying story with strong RE lore connections

👎 Cons

  • Ray tracing not ideal on RTX 3050 (FPS hit)

  • Some late-game parts feel more action-heavy than scary

  • Ethan as a protagonist still lacks personality for some players

  • Enemy AI can sometimes be too predictable

Final Verdict

Resident Evil Village is a masterfully crafted horror-action hybrid that plays smoothly and beautifully on mid-range gaming PCs. With your RTX 3050 and i5 13th Gen, you’ll enjoy a cinematic, terrifying, and thrilling experience at 1080p High/Ultra settings. It's a must-play for any survival horror fan and a worthy entry in the RE franchise.
