Hogwarts legacy

๐Ÿช„๐Ÿฐ Hogwarts Legacy – PC Game Review (Played on RTX 3050 + i5 13th Gen)

๐Ÿ” Overview

Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games, is a massive open-world action RPG set in the 1800s Wizarding World, long before the events of Harry Potter. You play as a custom fifth-year student at Hogwarts, uncovering ancient secrets, mastering magic, and exploring a richly detailed magical universe.

This is the dream game for any Potterhead — full of spells, beasts, flying brooms, and the charm of Hogwarts brought to life like never before.

๐Ÿ–ฅ️ Performance on My Gaming PC

Specs Used:

  • GPU: RTX 3050 8GB

  • CPU: Intel i5 13th Gen

  • RAM: 16GB DDR4

  • Storage: SSD

  • Resolution: 1080p

  • Settings Used: Medium to High + FSR 2.1 Balanced

๐ŸŽฎ FPS & Smoothness:

  • Medium-High mix + FSR Balanced @1080p: 45–60 FPS depending on area

  • Heaviest locations: Hogwarts interiors and Hogsmeade drop FPS to ~40 without FSR

  • Open world and dungeons: 55–65 FPS with minimal stutter

  • With FSR on Balanced/Performance: Much smoother, better frame pacing

  • Important: Install on SSD — greatly reduces texture pop-ins and stuttering

๐Ÿ‘️ Graphics & Visuals

  • Visually stunning at all levels — magical effects, lighting, weather, and castle interiors

  • The Hogwarts castle is jaw-dropping — moving staircases, common rooms, living portraits

  • Spells like Lumos, Incendio, Expelliarmus look cinematic and satisfying

  • RTX 3050 can’t handle ray tracing well, so better to keep RT off for stable FPS

  • High textures and effects run well with FSR — gives a good mix of fidelity and performance

๐Ÿง™ Gameplay & Combat

  • Combat is real-time and spell-based — fluid, flashy, and strategic

  • You can use:
    ✅ Light & heavy attacks
    ✅ Blocking & dodging
✅ Spell combos and ancient magic finishers
✅ Environmental manipulation (barrels, fire, traps)

  • Customizable spell loadouts (4-spell wheels) for switching styles

  • Wide spell variety: combat, utility, stealth, and puzzle-solving

  • Boss fights and enemy types keep combat dynamic

๐Ÿ—บ️ World Exploration

  • The open world is massive and magical:
    ✅ Hogwarts Castle
    ✅ Hogsmeade Village
    ✅ Forbidden Forest
    ✅ Highlands, caves, ruins, swamps

  • Tons of secrets, puzzles (Merlin Trials), hidden chests, and fast-travel points

  • Broom flight and hippogriff mounts feel great and open up travel early

  • World reacts to seasons and time of day — very immersive

๐Ÿ›ก️ Character & Progression

  • Deep RPG systems:
    ✅ Gear upgrades with traits
    ✅ Talent points for combat/magic/stealth
✅ Potion brewing & plant growing
✅ Custom outfit, wand, and broom styles

  • Multiple side quests with choices, friendships, and school drama

  • Includes Room of Requirement — your personal upgradable base

๐Ÿ“œ Story & Atmosphere

  • Original story about ancient magic and a goblin rebellion

  • You unravel mysteries alongside professors and students

  • Side characters (Sebastian, Natty, Poppy) have deep personal questlines

  • Voice acting is solid; writing leans toward young adult, but mature in parts

  • Fan service everywhere — spells, lore, books, Easter eggs galore

๐ŸŽง Sound & Music

  • Magical soundtrack inspired by John Williams’ original Harry Potter themes

  • Great ambient effects: wind, magical echoes, moving armor suits, spell impacts

  • Voice acting is decent, though some NPCs are repetitive

  • Combat music is dynamic and intense during duels and boss fights

๐Ÿ” Replay Value

  • Main story: 30–40 hours

  • Completionist run: 70+ hours

  • Tons of collectibles, puzzles, and secrets

  • House choice (Gryffindor, Slytherin, etc.) affects intro and common room only — not major plot shifts

  • No Quidditch, but flying and exploring are still engaging

๐Ÿ‘ Pros

  • Beautiful, faithful recreation of the Wizarding World

  • Engaging, stylish spell combat

  • Deep exploration with rewarding secrets

  • Great customization and RPG elements

  • Runs well with FSR on RTX 3050

  • Perfect for Harry Potter fans and RPG lovers

๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons

  • Ray tracing is unusable on RTX 3050

  • Occasional frame drops in dense areas like Hogsmeade

  • Some side quests feel repetitive

  • Story is solid, but not groundbreaking

  • Long initial load time without SSD

Final Verdict

Hogwarts Legacy is the ultimate Wizarding World experience, blending RPG mechanics, spell-slinging action, and detailed exploration in a magical open world. On your RTX 3050 + i5 13th Gen, the game runs well at Medium-High settings with FSR, giving you great visuals and a smooth experience.

Rating: ★★★★☆½ (4.5/5)
๐Ÿช„ Must-play for Harry Potter fans and RPG adventurers alike
