Control

๐ŸŒ€ Control – PC Game Review (Played on RTX 3050 + i5 13th Gen)

๐Ÿ” Overview

Control, developed by Remedy Entertainment, is a third-person supernatural action-adventure game that blends telekinetic combat, deep sci-fi lore, and haunting surreal environments. You play as Jesse Faden, the new director of the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), as she uncovers dark secrets while battling a strange force known as the Hiss.

The Ultimate Edition includes all DLCs (The Foundation & AWE) and is optimized for PC features like DLSS and ray tracing.

๐Ÿ–ฅ️ Performance on My Gaming PC

Specs Used:

  • GPU: RTX 3050 8GB

  • CPU: Intel i5 13th Gen

  • RAM: 16GB DDR4

  • Storage: SSD

  • Resolution: 1080p

  • Settings Used: Medium/High with DLSS Balanced

๐ŸŽฎ FPS & Smoothness:

  • Medium-High settings (DLSS Balanced): 55–65 FPS consistently at 1080p

  • Ray tracing ON: 25–35 FPS — playable but not recommended on RTX 3050 without DLSS Ultra Performance

  • Best experience: High settings + DLSS Balanced (no RTX) = stable 60 FPS with great visuals

  • Game is GPU-heavy, especially in areas with destructible environments and particle effects

  • SSD ensures fast load times and no streaming hitches

๐Ÿ‘️ Graphics & Visuals

  • One of the best-looking games in terms of lighting, destruction physics, and architecture

  • The Oldest House — a brutalist skyscraper that morphs and shifts — is hauntingly beautiful

  • Incredible particle effects when using telekinesis or during enemy explosions

  • Destructible environments make combat feel dynamic and alive

  • RTX 3050 handles High textures, shadows, and effects well — just keep ray tracing off for best performance

๐Ÿ”ซ Gameplay & Combat

  • Third-person shooter with a unique twist: superpowers

  • Jesse uses a shapeshifting weapon + psychic abilities:
    Telekinesis (Launch)
    Levitate
    Shield
    Seize (mind control enemies)
    Dash

  • Combat is fluid, strategic, and stylish — throwing office desks at enemies never gets old

  • Weapon upgrades and mods offer depth without overcomplication

  • Game rewards aggressive, mobile playstyles

๐Ÿ“œ Story & Atmosphere

  • Deep, mysterious, and mind-bending narrative

  • Strong X-Files / SCP Foundation vibes — filled with strange objects, altered events, and government coverups

  • Story is gradually revealed through collectibles, audio logs, and short surreal videos

  • Jesse’s internal monologue adds to the eerie atmosphere

  • DLCs expand the lore, especially AWE, which connects to Alan Wake

๐Ÿ—บ️ Exploration & World Design

  • Metroidvania-style structure — the Oldest House is interconnected with unlockable paths

  • Lots of hidden areas, puzzles, and collectibles

  • World changes as you progress; new powers unlock access to previously unreachable places

  • Side missions offer great rewards and lore

๐ŸŽง Sound & Music

  • Sound design is phenomenal — ambient drones, creepy whispers, shifting walls

  • Voice acting is solid, especially Courtney Hope as Jesse

  • Combat music ramps up dynamically

  • Iconic sequences like the Ashtray Maze are audio-visual masterpieces

๐Ÿ” Replay Value

  • Main campaign: 10–15 hours

  • DLCs add 5–7 hours more

  • Side missions, secret bosses, hidden upgrades

  • New Game+ not available, but replaying with full powers is fun

  • Endgame missions & challenges give reason to continue exploring

๐Ÿ‘ Pros

  • Gorgeous visuals with excellent optimization (with DLSS)

  • Deep, satisfying telekinetic combat

  • Immersive, mysterious world and lore

  • Great level design with backtracking and secrets

  • Runs well on RTX 3050 at 1080p with DLSS

๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons

  • Ray tracing is too heavy for RTX 3050 unless you drop quality significantly

  • Story can feel cryptic or confusing for some

  • No New Game+

  • Some difficulty spikes in late-game fights

Final Verdict

Control is a spectacular supernatural action game with a one-of-a-kind atmosphere and combat system. On your RTX 3050 and i5 13th Gen system, you’ll get a smooth, immersive experience at 1080p using High settings with DLSS — and it still looks phenomenal. It’s one of the best ways to experience the weird, wonderful world of Remedy.

Rating: ★★★★☆½ (4.5/5)
Highly recommended for fans of sci-fi, action, and psychological thrillers
