Detroit: Become Human

🎮 Detroit: Become Human — My Review

Genre: Interactive adventure / cinematic story
Developer: Quantic Dream
PC release: 2019
My rating:9/10

The game follows three android protagonists — Connor, Markus and Kara — in a futuristic Detroit where androids are becoming increasingly human-like. Your decisions can dramatically change the story and characters' fates. (Quantic Dream)

⭐ Story — 10/10

This is where the game absolutely shines.

You aren't simply watching a story — you are deciding it. A decision you make early can affect something much later. Characters can survive, die, change relationships, or take completely different paths.

Connor's detective storyline is particularly excellent, while Markus and Kara provide very different emotional experiences.

The PC version has an 80 Metascore, with critics generally praising its narrative and branching structure. (Metacritic)

🎭 Characters — 10/10

  • Connor — detective android 🤖

  • Markus — android revolutionary

  • Kara — protective caretaker

Their stories eventually intersect, making the overall narrative extremely engaging.

🎨 Graphics — 9.5/10

Even though the game is several years old, it still looks remarkably good.

Facial animations, skin details, lighting, rain, snow, reflections and environments are especially impressive. (GameFAQs)

And your RTX 5050 8GB is far beyond the game's recommended GPU, which is only a GTX 1060/RX 580-class card with 4GB VRAM. (Steam Store)

💻 Your Laptop Performance

Your configuration:

ComponentYour Laptop
CPUIntel i7 13th Gen
GPURTX 5050 8GB
RAM24GB
Storage1TB SSD

For Detroit: Become Human, this is more than enough.

I'd play it at:

1080p Ultra → Excellent 🔥
1440p Ultra → Excellent 🔥
4K → Possible, depending on your laptop's RTX 5050 power limit/display

The game officially targets 4K/60 FPS on PC, although PC performance and frame-rate behavior can vary by hardware and settings. (Steam Store)

🎮 Gameplay — 8/10

This is the only area where you need to understand what you're buying.

Don't expect something like Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Cyberpunk 2077 or Red Dead Redemption 2 where you're constantly fighting/exploring.

It's much closer to an interactive movie.

You'll spend a lot of time:

Exploring → investigating → talking → making decisions → Quick Time Events → watching consequences

Some reviewers specifically criticize the relatively light gameplay, while praising the story and visuals. (PC Gamer)

🎮 Controller or Keyboard?

Definitely controller.

The game supports both, but a controller makes the cinematic/QTE gameplay feel much more natural. PC Gamer also recommended using a gamepad over keyboard controls. (PC Gamer)

🔥 Overall: 9/10

Considering you've played a lot of AAA games, I think Detroit: Become Human is absolutely worth adding to your list — but play it when you're in the mood for a powerful cinematic story rather than combat-heavy gameplay.

And with your RTX 5050 8GB + i7 13th Gen + 24GB RAM, you're going to experience this game much more comfortably than the hardware it was originally designed around. (Steam Store)
