Crew 2014

Platform Played: PC / PS4 / Xbox One

Developer: Ubisoft Ivory Tower
Publisher: Ubisoft

Graphics – 8.5/10

For a 2014 game, The Crew offered impressive visuals and a huge recreation of the United States. The cities, highways, mountains, deserts, and forests made every road trip feel different, even if some textures and models looked dated.

Open World – 10/10

This is where The Crew truly shines. Driving from New York to Los Angeles without loading screens was an incredible experience. Exploring the massive map with friends remains one of the game's biggest strengths.

Gameplay – 8.5/10

The game combines arcade racing with RPG-style progression. Upgrading cars into Street, Dirt, Performance, Raid, and Circuit specifications adds variety, although some missions become repetitive over time.

Story – 7.5/10

The revenge-driven campaign is enjoyable but predictable. It's good enough to keep you moving across the country, though it's not the game's main attraction.

Multiplayer – 9/10

Cruising with friends, completing missions together, and exploring the open world made The Crew stand out from other racing games of its time.

Pros

  • Massive open-world USA map
  • Great sense of speed
  • Excellent road-trip atmosphere
  • Fun co-op gameplay
  • Good vehicle customization

Cons

  • Weak driving physics compared to modern racers
  • Repetitive side activities
  • AI and server issues at launch
  • Always-online requirement caused major problems

Final Verdict

⭐ Overall Rating: 8.5/10

"The Crew wasn't the best racing simulator, but it delivered one of the greatest open-world driving experiences ever made. If you loved long road trips and exploring America with friends, it was unforgettable."

Note: The original The Crew (2014) is no longer playable because its servers were shut down in 2024 due to its online-only design.
